Service and the customer first
"Until the moment you sent me that card, I honestly had never heard of Tilroy, but your timing was perfect, as if it was just meant to be," says Bas. "We had been looking for a new POS system for our stores for almost a year and were talking to several parties. The POS we used before made simple store processes like exchanges in store or collecting loyalty points cumbersome. After three years our employees still couldn't get to grips with the POS. We were looking for a store system that could think along with us and puts service and the customer first."
Something was always missing
"Nobody really offered what we were looking for and something was always missing. If they were strong in data, the customer data we were looking for was missing. What's more, omnichannel may not be as standard as you at Tilroy think. We saw an enormous number of substandard e-commerce solutions that were not linked, or not linked well. When they were linked, they almost all looked exactly the same. We wanted to manage our stores, webshop and inventory as one and avoid double work. But in our house style, not one size fits all."
Are they there for me?
"Shopify is strong in e-commerce, but the POS is less functional, with mandatory payment systems. We have worked with Pay. for years and wanted to keep it that way, which was possible with Tilroy," Bas continues. "In that same period we were also hacked on Instagram and Facebook and were confronted with how hard it is to reach these big international players. What if we work with Shopify ourselves? We certainly considered that too."
"Employees in the store can panic, and it gives peace of mind to know you can go to Tilroy with your questions, and in your own language. Without support from your people you can't be successful as an organisation. Our employees come first, they are the voice of the customer."
A bit of service for a bit of data
"In the past someone could walk into our store and ask to reserve something that wasn't in stock at that location in another store. Completely anonymously, really. In Tilroy everything works with tasks and the customer is central, a customer has to be linked. Our store staff had to get used to that, but everyone now sees that it only offers advantages for the customer and stands behind it as a team. The customer who comes to the Tilroy POS immediately feels recognised and can be spoiled with excellent service, without having to say a thing. So we automatically become more aware of the customer, and that is actually marketing too: a bit of service for a bit of data."
Our goal is to give a lasting feeling of happiness
"The store process has to be frictionless, checkout has to be fast, and as a finishing touch a nice gesture like loyalty points or a small gift. That is the basis of a great store experience. We have customers who 'pay on account' or ask us to 'put something aside'. You need a system that understands those kinds of processes, thinks along with you and puts the customer first. Because apart from all the data, we remain people of feeling, and the human perspective must never be lost."
"We want to strengthen the bond with our customers, improve the customer experience and increase the value of our stores. Thanks to Tilroy we can do this in a simpler and nicer way, and we keep putting our physical customer first."
